Transformation In Progress

So here is one of my latest DIY projects.  I purchased this dresser at an church yard sale for $10.

I loved the claw feet and it was is great condition-just in need of a makeover.

I had NO IDEA this poor dresser had layers and layers of stains, paints and glazes!  I started with a stripping solution but that wasn’t cutting it.  So, I sanded, and sanded, and sanded.  And Viola!  Here she is (a bit naked at the moment)!

The final touch will be a coat (or two) of the new Kilz Casual Colors ‘Classic Turquiose’ and a little glaze for a distressed look.  I’m really looking forward to finishing this project up.  But…the beach is calling my name so it will have to wait another week.  Sigh…..

Hop on over to Kimba’s site, A Soft Place To Land, and check out other wonderful, gorgeous transformations.  There are some amazing folks out there!

Creativity

Well, its back to the studio today.  I’ve been having a difficult time getting in there and feeling inspired.  But, the juices are starting to flow so I’d better seize the moment! IMG_8253I’m feeling very inspired by the beach.  We’ll be heading down to the Outer Banks this Sunday for a week’s vacation!  Can’t wait.  These earrings were made from beads I purchased while we were there last year.  I picked the beads up at a little shop called Cloud Nine.  Cute little shop, full of inspiration and lovely, unusual beads.

I hope you are all having a lovely week and feel inspired to create!

Estate Sale Goodness-Part I

Last Thursday I rode out across town to check out the Huguenot-Robious Farmer’s Market.  Along the way a pretty, bright, yellow sign caught my eye.  ESTATE SALE!  I decided to stay the path to the market and, if I had time, check out the estate sale on my way back home.

The market was lovely with lots of fresh veggies and homemade treats but that bright yellow sign was still calling my name.  :) So I anxiously headed back across town in hopes that some treasures may still be found.  Boy, did I get a pleasant treat!

You see, I’m a SUCKER for milk glass.  Just ask my hubby!  I found these three gorgeous pieces.  Though the rectangular one and the large round one are similar in design, I don’t think they are from the same collection.  The rectangular one is more ‘milky’ with the transparent edges.  BUT….the small round one is my fav!

Just look at that glow!  Isn’t it beautiful?!  I told ya….SUCKER!

Then I wondered further through this lovely home finding more treasures.  Stay tuned for more tomorrow.  To keep you in suspense, I’ll leave you with this thought…..YUMMY FABRICS!

Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things

IMG_8875

Believe it or not, things have been busy around here.  Unfortunately, not so much in the studio.  There’ve been braces, surgeries and wisdom teeth removed over the past couple weeks.  Fortunately, all of this hasn’t happened to one individual but has been spread out between myself and my boys.  We are all on the mend and trying to get back into the swing of things.  I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio but also spending some quality time with the family this summer.  So beware, posts may be pretty sporatic for a bit.  Hugs~
