A Welcoming Sign-Literally
Jul 19th
One more addition to our front porch makeover!
I decided to add a vinyl decal to the front door for the final touch! I’m just giddy over how awesome it turned out! It really is all the little touches that make the entrance more inviting and welcoming don’t you think?

I ordered the decal from Household Words. Mandie was wonderful to work with, even answering my silly questions prior to my order! She even provided quick delivery and great installation instructions (especially for a timid DIYer like myself!). Mandie offers a wide variety of decals for every area of your home.

Something to consider when you’re adding those personal touches to your home. Happy decorating!

Porch Decking Dilemma
Jul 2nd
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we were having a dilemma over what to do with the porch decking.
We considered replacing the wooden decking with composite decking like this from Lowe’s. However, the $600+ price tag just isn’t in our budget right now. So we decided to give the current wooden deck boards a paint job. We visited our local Sherwin Williams and looked at both the stains and an enamel. We wanted something durable with some to it. Although the stains can be tinted, you still have transparency and it doesn’t seem to wear as well. I have the enamel on my studio floor and have been very pleased with it. It has worn very well over the past four years even with all the projects and furniture moving that I do. True, the porch is wood and the studio flooring is concrete. This product works on both surfaces! We settled on the enamel in their San Antonio Sage: a khaki with a hint of green.
Here it is! I’m pretty happy with it. For $45 we got a nice, fresh looking porch.
A couple of our neighbors have even asked if it’s the compost decking!
Hehe!
Please come back tomorrow for the next installation of our front porch re-do.
